Advisors and business owners, men and women, talking over coffee at a daytime networking event

Who you would be
dealing with

A small team, you'll know all of them, and they're the same people before, during and after.

A deal usually means explaining years of your life to strangers who will be gone once it closes. This is set up the other way round.

Kat Levy

Kat Levy

Global CEO. Strategy and M&A.

Works out the value somebody else would put on a business, then says it in words they can price.

Kat came up through operations rather than finance, starting as a process engineer, then supply chain, then advising on M&A deals, then running businesses. She has spent more time in warehouses and on factory floors than in boardrooms.

She starts with how a business actually runs, before going anywhere near the numbers. The detail an investor or an acquirer needs sits in how an owner talks about the business, and it never comes out in the pitch, so she listens for a lot longer than you expect.

Adiel Jacobs

Adiel Jacobs

Structuring and deals.

Works on how a business and its group are put together, and the cost that carries years later.

Adiel founded a chartered accounting practice in 2002 and ran it for eighteen years, after a decade in tax and corporate accounting. He took the tax practice across to Halkin in 2020 and co-founded Halkin Ventures with Kat and two others from the board. Thirty years of watching structures get set up for one good reason and then live with the consequences for the next twenty.

Structure chosen deliberately rather than inherited. It is the least visible part of a deal and it usually decides how much of the money reaches the owner rather than going somewhere else. He negotiates, which is a different skill from advising, and he has done it long enough to know which parts of a deal are movable.

The team

  • Jarrod Basger

    Jarrod Basger

    Growth and transactions.

Jarrod has worked inside a business through the years it scaled and stayed to the day it sold. He knows which of today's decisions a buyer will be reading three years from now.

    Sarah Doig

    Growth and go-to-market.

Sarah has worked in every part of a business a customer touches, first conversation to renewal. She builds the process a business is missing, and builds it so it still runs when she leaves.

  • Anoushka Weiley

    Anoushka Weiley

    Due diligence.

Anoushka trained in audit, where a number is only as good as the document behind it. She goes through a business the way a buyer's team will, before they do.

  • Ali Aslan

    Ali Aslan

    AI and automation.

Ali comes from mathematical optimisation, where slack in a process is something you can calculate. He finds the hours a business is losing to handoffs and rework, then builds the thing that gives them back.
