Ali has spent his career working out where large organisations lose their time. He has led workforce optimisation for an outsourcer and workforce planning for a major bank, with consulting work through the middle. The problem has been the same shape every time. A business is losing more to hours, handoffs and rework than it thinks, and nobody can prove where.

So he proves it, with a routing policy that lifted call centre performance, a staffing model that told a retailer what each tranche of branch closures would cost before it closed them, and a rostering model that took labour cost out of long-term care without taking it out of the care. He is a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt who does the maths himself, and he will tell you when the answer is that you do not need the technology at all.
